Man's Best Friend

I love the transition from black tights and leggings to a sexy over-the-knee sock. It shows just enough skin to still leave a little something to the imagination. And, paired with boyish pieces like an army jacket and ripped up shorts, the look creates the perfect balance of masculine and femine.

Baring Layers

So the weather is warming up and sometimes its fun to use those heavy layering pieces in new and interesting ways as the temperature rises. I like this outfit (this is my gorgeous sister) because she uses a super heavy, oversized cardigan as a jacket instead of a layering piece. I also love that she shows a little bit of skin with a slightly cropped silk shirt. Something about a little bit of exposure just screams that warm weather is upon us!

Animal Instincts

Last weekend was one of the few really cold weekends here in Brooklyn. Of course, my sister and I decided to venture out and hit up some Sunday afternoon vintage shops...and of course my sister made cold weather fashion seem effortless. These Sam Edelman Leopard print bots have been a fixation of hers for quite some time. They look fabulous with distressed jeans and a really clean cut coat.

Angel Wings

I talk a lot about how often I'm inspired by my sister Maura. She has a keen eye for fashion and I honestly fail miserably at shopping without her. She knows what works and has a vision before she ever puts the clothes on her body. It's quite the gift.

I love this outfit on so many levels. First, winter white, especially as a pretty dress. I also love that she mixes it with an oversized sweater and dark chunky shoes. My favorite part is the socks. It would be so safe to wear a pair of black tights but I think the over-the-knee socks take it to a whole different level.

Skeleton Sisters

When SkeletonArmour began, the idea was to share a constant and ever-changing view of fashion and all of the things that inspire us creatively. For me, my sisters are my biggest inspiration and my co-conspirators. They are the most wonderful, honest, and beautiful people I know. Each is an artist in her own right and fashion is only one of the ways they exude their creativity. In recent weeks, I've spent lots of time with them and I've taken lots of pictures. So, I'm going to dedicate my next few posts to showing off how awesome these girls really are.

Caroline does an awesome job making any outfit look effortless...and it helps that she's a mere wisp of a human being. I love this outfit because of all the contrast. A tailored blazer with a ripped up sweater and flannel give this look an edge. I also love the mix of brown and black tones and the use of accessories to give it a rocker chic vibe. Not to mention those pretty blue eyes!

Mouth of Fire

This weekend was the first snow in the city since Halloween and for a brief moment in time it was a winter wonderland...obviously it's now gray, dirty, and half-frozen but I did enjoy it early in the morning. The result? Lots of winter weekend camera shots. From coyote fur hats, to kitty cuddles, baubles, and an awesome new chrome skull...my inspirations and fascinations for the day.

Pirates and Treasure

Obsessed does not begin to describe my feelings on the new Nicholas K lookbook. It has this amazing pirate feel and an eerie contrast of light and dark.  I love how effortlessly textures are mixed with flowing fabrics. New springtime wardrobe? Yes, please.
